Atyrau state University named After H. Dosmukhamedov — multidisciplinary higher education institution of Atyrau region. More than 10 thousand students study at the University in more than 50 specialties. The University employs more than 500 teachers, including 200 doctors and candidates of science, professors and associate professors.
The University has a developed infrastructure, which includes 5 academic buildings, 2 student houses with 880 seats, sports and cultural complex "Zhaiyk", medical center, scientific library.

In the third quarter of 2023, 22,674 people were hired by enterprises. 28,475 people left for various reasons. One employee worked 481.8 hours.
At the end of the third quarter of 2023, 2,056 vacancies were not filled at enterprises (1% of the number of employees).

In December 2023, the authorized employment agencies received applications in search of work (according to the Department for Coordination of Employment and Social Programs). 2837 people applied, including 1235 rural residents. 9825 people are officially registered with employment agencies as unemployed (the share of registered unemployed is 2.7%).
